Working Globally

The new information that I gained from visiting this website is that there are 200 million children around the world that don’t reach their full potential by age 5. Another insight that I became aware is that in North America, the Center on the Developing Child is working globally to help breakthrough the outcomes of our children in poverty.

This organization is helping coordinate different strategies to support our children health, education and economic development.  Also, they are in the need of protecting our children form adversity and are providing them with a high quality learning opportunities.  They also mention and we all should know this is that early childhood years are the critical years of a child lives.  We should all be providing our children with an accessible education that would help our children be school readiness. No matter if our children come from low-income homes, they also need to be included in our higher education programs. As educators we need to close the gap between our low-income students.

  1. Luz, The information was great and as educators we should work together to ensure children receive a preschool experience.

  2. Luz, i enjoyed your blog. I have learned some of the things you talked about in your blog and it very heartbreaking to know that children all over the world struggle because of the lack of an effective school program.

  3. Thanks for sharing your insight. I agree with the site and you that the first years of early childhood education makes a huge difference. Children should have the resources to go to school no matter income. I was surprise at 200 million children do not reach their fill potential by age five.

  4. Luz,
We have learned the same thing and its heartbreaking to know the number of children who don't get a chance to reach their full potential. Your right the first few years of a child's life is critical which is why we should be fighting harder and coming up with ways in which to help all children get the education they deserve.

  5. Luz, this was a concern of mine too. As I began to read this article, I felt that I should turn my attention more to early childhood education; esp. Head Start. Since we have noted that children aren't reaching their fullest potential by age 5, something or someone must feel the need and work in the field. We hear the voices of the field now. Love your post!
